Competition Regulations

Sacred Music : Artistic music programs using religious texts excluding those related to Church Music category

Folklore : Music programs adapted for choir that originates from the traditions of a specific ethnicity, region, or culture

Pop & Jazz : Popular music programs from the 20th century to the present, including Pop, Rock, and Jazz

Church Music : Music such as hymns, gospel, and CCM used in Protestant worship and faith activities

*Choirs can participate up to 1 from Category A and 2 from Category B.

*Choirs must follow the regulations of age limit and number of singers from each category.

*The minimum number of singers for each category doesn’t include choir’s conductor or accompanist.

*Choirs can perform with maximum 3 instrumentalists including a pianist. If one of the choir singers plays instruments, he/she will not be counted as an instrumentalist.

*The number of song for all categories is 2. Duplication of song programs is prohibited across all categories.

*If choirs request changing song programs for competition, the choirs must contact the festival committee with all the required documents as soon as possible and get approval to change. If the choirs do not receive an pre-approval email from the festival committee or do not request at least one month before the festival begins, the song programs cannot be changed.

*If any of the submitted song programs are not in English texts, choirs must submit the song description/ text translations in English.

*Each song program for competition must be submitted with documentations such as sheet music purchase receipt, agreement from the relevant composer, and etc. that can prove its legal use.

*Participating choirs have a responsibility to all the copyright issues regarding song programs performed during the festival.

*Performance time for each choir is limited to 10 minutes which will be counted from the first note of the first song to the last note of the last song.

*Acoustic piano will be provided.

*Choirs can use up to 3 instruments maximum.

*Use of MR (Music Recording) or AR (Audio Recording) is prohibited.

*Use of electronic instruments or solo microphones is prohibited.

*The order of performance and rehearsal for each category will be decided and announced by the committee.

*Winner choir of each category must earn 93.00pts or above to qualify for the Grand Prix final.

*Choirs qualified for Grand Prix must perform 2 songs; one song must be a new program which was not performed at the category competition before. Choice of song programs are free.

*Performance time is limited to 8 minutes which will be counted from the first note of the first song to the last note of the last song.

*Song program for the Grand Prix final stage must be submitted to the festival committee by the before noon of the competition day with all the information with files as you submitted for the category competition such as song title, composer, arranger, music score, song description/text translation, and the documentations such as sheet music purchase receipt, agreement from the relevant composer, and etc. that can prove its legal use.

*Participating choirs have a responsibility to all the copyright issues regarding song programs performed during the festival.

*Evaluation will be considered based on the following criteria.

1. Intonation

2. Sound Quality

3. Fidelity to the Score

4. Overall Artistic Performance
